Mother Marianne
| Peggy was commissioned to paint this portrait of Mother Marianne Cope for the 75th anniversary of the Saint Francis Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. She painted this piece in 2002, just after being officially diagnosed with ALS. Peggy feels very connected to Mother Marianne, who is respected and loved for her work with Hawaiian victims of leprosy (now called Hansen's Disease) in Kalaupapa over 100 years ago. Recently, the beatification of Mother Marianne made international news. We are proud to have this special image available for print. |
