Beach Dreams
| My intention in creating this scene was to include everything I would enjoy in a day at the beach. While I was drawing this, I was speaking to my friend Keola Beamer who asked why I had never put his guitar in my paintings to date, so I did! Note the two-holed guitar to the rights, Keola's trademark; I also added a full spread of local grinds including poi, papayas, poke, and pipipi. On my lauhala mat, you'll also see a nose flute, Hawaiian shell instruments, ipu and ukulele. My maile lei and pareo have been tossed into the trees and I am off swimming in the deep blue sea. |
