Koke'e 'Ohi'a

The ohia lehua is found most often in the volcano area on the Big Island. However, I picked these ohia blossoms in the forests of Kokee State Park on the island of Kauai. I love painting ohia blossoms because I can do negative painting when putting in the leaves behind the red of the flower. The ohia lehua is one of Hawaii's most storied flowers.
