Red Ti

The ti plant was extremely useful in Hawaiian culture. The ti leaf was used for wrapping food and flower lei. Ti grows abundantly in Hawaii and is a source of mana if found growing in your yard. Ti is one of my favorite subjects to paint, as it allows me to use my wet-into-wet technique in each shape. I love dropping color onto the wet paper, especially when painting the red ti. The medium of watercolor allows the artist a great opportunity for experimentation in abstract painting with each shape, which is why I enjoy painting these beautiful plants so much.
